Estel Shoot!!!
Figure: Scale 1/8 Pre-Painted Estel Freesia

Well, be quite some time since I did a photo shoot. Well, I decided it’s time to do a simple shoot. This time is Estel Freesia from Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na. As some of you know I got it from NAF (Northern Anime Festival). I think most of you are sick on non figure/ anime posts by now, so I decided to do a shoot. I know most of you who had thought the next time I do a shoot it would be about the figure comic featuring Konata. Well, I have it planned but haven’t done any pictures yet. I plan doing one before this week ends. Still deciding on which Nendoroid character to use. It’s either Miku or Kagami with other Nendoroids I own appearing as well. Well, enough about me talking about the next comic (don’t want to give too much away), on to the shoot!!!

Back View!!!

Side View 2…
Some different angles of Estel!!!!!!!
Well, Estel’s hair is detailed pretty nicely!!!!!
A close up front view…
Is it me or she doesn’t smile at all…this figure should be a bit more happier…
More angles… Her eyes are really awesome. Very detailed!!!
At least the base matches in some way with the figure…
Removed the cape thing. She looks a lot nicer like this.
She is so beautiful without the cape in my opinion.
More angles without the cape…
The book she’s holding is really detailed…
Front view of Estel without the cape…
This looks artistic in some way I feel…
You can even remove the skirt. PANTSU SHOT RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!!
Well, it’s been a while since I did a shoot. I have to say, pretty good. Now the thing is, I’ve been seeing around lately that people don’t use a regular camera to take pictures but those high end cameras. Well, sadly, I don’t own a high end camera. Those things cost like $300 to $1000. There is no way I’m willing to pay that much…maybe… Still, using those cameras would make the figure photo shoot a lot better. I use a Sony Cybershot for all my pictures. They work just as good, but I feel I should upgrade. Well, I’ll decide on that later. If anyone have tips on camera picking, please tell me!!!!!!
This figure of Estel Freesia from Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na is made by Kotobukiya. Like all Kotobukiya figures, that are well built and made. For people don’t know who is Estel Freesia, she only appears in the game version of this not the anime. I have to say, you can remove a lot on this figure. From the cape to the skirt. I do like that. I think her eyes were the main attraction to this figure. I was like wow, this figure’s eyes are just something that makes you buy her. Her pose is well designed I have to say. It makes her so beautiful in a lot of ways. The paint on her are well done except that part of her uniform paint is a bit shiny. That is just a minor problem some I don’t really care since most of that part is covered by the paint. Well, I give this figure an “A”!!!!!! This a great figure!!!
If some of you have been reading my blog, I went to Northern Anime Festival last week. I got her for a great price to of $35. I say that is great deal. I love conventions even though they are small, you’ll always find a good deal. This figure is only one of like five figures sold at the convention. The other one I got or obtained at the convention was Illya from Fate Stay Night. Still, being able to find this figure is a great in my mind. Well, being able to obtaining a good quality figure at a small convention is great in my mind as well.
Name: Estel Freesia

P.S.: I’ll be going to Wonderland again tomorrow. I’ll hope to have better coverage this time when I go to Wonderland. Hopefully a group picture too. Well, there is a chance I won’t be able to post until Saturday but it’s a really slim chance. Most likely I’ll be able to post. Well, I have to go to bed now, get ready for tomorrow.

Oh wow I can see there was a lot of attention to detail in the making of this figure, and the photo shoot you did Rin is great. Really shows how good the piece of work is ^_^
Hard to believe you got it at such a good price. Congrats on that
Very nice photos there. I also agree that the best part of this figure is her eyes. I also like her without her cape on.
Anyway, DSLR camera is indeed expensive. If you want to find cheap DSLR, then getting Canon 400D (USD 600) or Canon 450D (USD 800) is the right thing to do. If you are willing to spend more than USD 1000, Canon 40D or Nikon D300 is the best choice.
Getting DSLR body is just the beginning. Choosing and buying the lens is the real deal (expensive lenses all over the place). So make sure you plan this carefully.
damn, I love this figure but because of the price, i haven’t bought it yet. Now I’m wishing I lived in Canada.
wow she is beautiful!! looks like a great character also great shots you have there.
Nice shoot. I like the lighting. ^^
I saw her for around $45AUD at the Animania con last year but I decided to pass. I got Feena by Atelier Sai instead because I love her. xD
Awesome looking figure! Wondering if I should get a Haruhi figma…=w=
cute figurine, somehow she reminds me of feena farmlight :O
I’ve always liked the figurine. Nice photoshoot =D.
Those eyes look amazing indeed.
Your photos turn out pretty good for a regular camera.
Sweet figure, I like Estel a fair bit myself too =) To be more accurate, I think Estel only appears in the PS2 version of the game and not the original PC game.
As sonic_ver2 mentioned, in the end it’s probably going to be the lenses that will kill the wallet, but if you’re not gonna go all that into photography, and pretty much intend to use the camera for figure photography, pretty much the main lens you’ll need would be a macro lens, since stock lenses (18-55mm) pretty much can do the job. Of course, specialty lenses would do the job better, but thats where the planning comes in, so have fun shopping!
I myself wasn’t sure if I wanted this figure or not. Perhaps you can persuade me when we meet in Japan.
Also you don’t need a DSLR to take awesome figure photos. You just need to know a bit more on lighting and know what your camera can do. Personally if I was going to get a digital camera, I wouldn’t get a Sony Cybershot. Try looking at some Canon or Olympus digital cameras that are within your budget.
Kairu: Well convention prices are always good. Just try to make some deals with the dealer.
Sonic_Ver 2: Thx for the tip. I’ll keep that in mind.
Darkdam: Thx, I’ve been messing around with the lighting.
Optic: I want Feena but everytime I found her, it cost so much!!!
Akari: Join the Figma revolution!!!!!!
Ron~: For some reason, I say Estel looks like Feena in so many ways!!!
Coco The Bean: Her eyes are amazing isn’t!!!
Shino: Thx for the tip. If I somehow get a DLSR camera, I’ll use that tip!!!
Adun: Him another brand huh…I might use a Canon camera. That’s if I get a new one soon.
Nice pics
And cute fig , never seen this one in any shop
And i’m always jealous at the so cheap prices you get them ^^
James: Cheap prices come at conventions and if you are a regular at an anime store.
Very kawaii fig and a lovely job you did of showcasing it ^-^
Surprised the skirt can be taken off though XD
