Well, I finally took a little break today. I wanted to try this new game downloadable on the nintendo Wii. As you can see, it’s the new Megaman 9. I love the old 8bit Megaman series. Megaman 2 was my favorite game of the series. Aside from being hard (gets easier if you played it like a mad man). When I heard that Capcom was going to released Megaman 9, I was pretty excited. When I also hear that Capcom decided to go old school 2D 8bit style, I was like Holy Sh*t!!! Seriously, going old school in a world where gamers are such use to 3D games. This tactic paid off as tons of people had already downloaded the game and is one of the tops downloads on the wii.

Like all the old school Megaman games, you pick your stage and see which robot master to fight. Also, this is the first Megaman game that has a female boss (Splash Woman). Capcom also added a new downloadable content menu where you can pay a small fee (200 points) to play as Protoman. Capcom has also confirmed more content to download later on.

Capcom old school 8bit glory returns to Megaman 9. Such classic gameplay and Megaman look!!!

Glitches are in the game. Capcom puts in gmae glitches to make the game like the old Megaman games…

This is currently in my opinion the hardest game in the series. It takes a lot of tries to beat it and a lot of memorizing. There are obstacles that gets in your way and some just comes out of no where. Playing a stage over and over again is required unless you are really pro at this game.

Power ups are back. They are avialable when you beat a boos. Each boss has it’s own weakness and you have to figure out which power up is it’s weakness. Still, you have to beat a boss with your megabuster to obtain a power up to beat the other robot masters.

Megaman also have a new feature. Time attack. This is where you select a stage and rush through it as fast as you can. Your fast records will be saved and uploaded to the ranking boards. There are also challenges in this game. Challenges are like the Xbox 360 achievements. You have to do something to clear the challenge . Some of the challenges are like kill 50 enemies, or beat a stage in 5 minutes or the ever almost impossible one is to beat a stage without taking damage. These new features will make the longer and more enjoyable for old school and even new school gamers.

Mid bosses are in the game. They appear in the middle of the stage and takes some strategy to beat them. They aren’t hard if you know how to beat them. Each stage have their own mid bosses and their own style of attacking.

A lot of hazards will prevent you in beating the stage like strong winds and spikes.

Dissappearing blocks. The part I hated back then when playing this game. You have to remember where and how long the blocks appear. I remember I kept dying cause of them.

he shop returns in Megaman 9. You collect screws throughout the game and purchase items such as an extra life, a more powerful Megabuster or even Megaman with hair. If you collect enough screws, you can even buy everything in the shop.

I do recommend to play this game. This game is not the only for the Wii, but downloadable for the PS3 and Xbox 360. If you any of these sytems, I say go online and download it right now if you haven’t already!!!

This gets me thinking. What kind of game style do you like. 2D games or 3D games?

For me, it all depends on the series. 3D games is what we are all used to. Still, I don’t mind going back to the old 2D classics such as games like Megaman and Mario. Such classics.

For adventure/platformer/fighting games, 2D all the way! The rest are fine with 3D I suppose.

Anyway, I agree. It’s so awesome how they chose to go 8-bit with this. Way to satisfy all the old skool fans!

Unfortunately, I’m one of those dudes who can barely finish Mario. I remember Megaman on the NES. That game pwned me good. So yeah, I doubt I’ll be able to conquer this one.

Looks good, but somehow I could never really get into old school gaming (partially because I’m terrible at games like this). I usually find modern 3D games to be more fun, but then again, I always find myself playing more 2D fighters than 3D, and obviously bullet hell counts as 2D, so I guess it goes either way.

Old school Megaman games that brings back memories. There have been so many new games coming out that had nothing to do with the old Megaman it is unreal. I have the Blue Bomber Anniversary Collection for the GC. I was thinking about playing it after reading this.

I played it at my friend’s house, the difficulty is ridiculously punishing. Modern games have made me soft!
