Well, the day finally came as Dot Con arrives. I picked up my friends around 10AM and headed to a Holiday Inn nearby where the convention is held. I expected this to be a small convention with limited stuff. Well, got to the hotel which the convention was held and had to park up in the third level…sadly. We got inside and lined up in line for our wrist band passes.

A lot of people sure came today. I’m pretty surprised of the turn out. I’ve been to small cons but this is the biggest small convention I’ve been to. So far so good but the line took awhile to get to the front…

While in line, took a picture of a Yuki cosplayer!!!!!! YAY for cosplayers!!!!! This proves it’s an anime convention and otakus are around us!!!!!!

The Figma I brought along is revealed!!! Kagami will be join me at Dot Con!!! Got my friend to hold her while I took the picture.

We go downstairs to where the conventionis held and there is a lot of people. Small area but a good amount of people.

Saw a Nel cosplayer and took a picture!!!! Well, most people who did cosplay as Bleach characters is due to the fact that Mazakazu Morita is the special guest that is going to be there at the convention.

Went to the dealers room and it maybe small but it was packed with otaku and anime fans a like buying some goodies!!! At around this time, I meet up with Saku and we talked and walked around the dealers room.

I just this for fun. Look at the similarities…cool huh!!! Which look better I wonder…

We wondered what was the schedule for this convention and we went to one of the staff desks, we asked for help and found the schedule on the desk. Sadly only one copy and it’s an old version. Kagami is trying to help out figuring the timetable out…

Went back to the dealer room and took a picture of the banner of ACG North America!!! The art is done by Kaze-Hime!!!!

So far the hallway is filled with people taking a small break. I remember at the end of the hall, there are otakus dancing the Hare Hare Yukai and doing photo shoots…

Kagami is loving the art work on sale there. She loves the Kaze-Hime art booth. Kagami is slowly showing her otaku ness!!!

The crowd died down a bit but still there is a lot of people. So far there are a few small amount of stuff I want. I kept track on what I want and made sure how much I will spend today, since i have limited amount of money cause I’m saving up for both Anime North and Japan…

We entered the room where Mazakazu Morita was supposedly doing a panel Q & A and autographs…not many people for now… It’s a good idea getting seats early since I bet that when Mirota comes in, people will be filling into this room!!!

The whole Q & A panel was enjoyable and worth waiting an hours in that room for this!!! Everyone in the room even told him that we North Americans love change in our culture and Japanese culture is the way to go!!! We also had a little debat on whats better, original or dubbed. Everyone went Subbed and original!!!!!!

With that ends the Q & A panel but starts the line for autograph. Just before it ended. He challenges the whole room to Rock Paper Scissor. I won a prize by beating him and was handed to me peronally by Mirota!!!!! I’m so not opening this little fan key chain…

The line was pretty long but I’ll wait…with friends…still, long line… I have to thank Saku on helping me holding my figure for me as at that time my hands were full…

Finally, reached the front of the line. A fan bought and got signed an Abyss Gundam model kit…that is pretty nice though I have to say…

I did too!!!!!! Now I regret not cosplaying as a Bleach character…I wonder what would had happened if I cosplayed as Hitsugaya Toushiro…

Left the room and went to Kaze-hime art panel which was across the hall from the room where Masakazu was in…

While she guards my loot, I talk with Saku and ACG North America creator Tim. We talked about anime, figures and anything otaku related. He also found out that I was the one who made the big random figure tower which was amazed at when he saw it on Facebook (my friend posted the picture of my figure tower). Well, after Saku left, I took a last stroll around the dealers room…

The dealers room at the end of the day had less people then the afternoon. I finally get a chance to get a more clearer photo…

The dealer room is pretty empty at the end of the day just like every other convention…it slows down just a bit but there are people (like me) wants to buy some goodies before it closed…

So it was getting late and we decided to leave. It was raining pretty hard when we left. I hate driving in the rain…argh… At least I got home safely and my loot made it too!!!

My thoughts:

This convention was actually really fun. I meet a lot of people and did many things. I do like small conventions cause you get to meet people that has the same passion in anime and similar hobbies just like you. More socializing with other otakus is one of the strong points of the convention. Also a major achievement that a first year convention did is to get a Japanese guest such as Masakazu Morita on their first year. Just like almost everyone who attended, I bet most of them would say their highlight was meeting Masakazi Morita. Mine was too. Also meeting Tim was also a great experience as he also has the same hobby in collecting figures like Saku and I. I didn’t know before I knew him, he was friends with Saku and Momo. I didn’t know that. It was my surprise. I had a great time at this convention and I have high hopes for this convention in the near future.
