Figure: Scale 1/8 Pre-Painted Tsuruya-san

08 [pictureswhitebgv2]

Been a long time since I did a photo shoot. Been really busy to do one and I basically had no time to do one. Finally after a long time, I did one. Today’s figure is Alters Tsuruya-san. For people who doesn’t know which anime is Tsuruya is from, she’s from the highly popular 14 episode The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. She is the hyper active character of the series!!!

I got from a Hobby Search sale that had from here. I got her for around 3000 yen (The price went back to her original price after the sale was over). On the New Figures and Games post, she came in a package with Nanoha which both was on sale.

I have no clue why does this keep happening. It looks just fine on my computer then when I upload it, the background goes all gray on me. I really got to figure out what is going on before I do another one.

I wonder, if a person had hair this long, it would be hell just washing and drying it…

I think I never seen Tsuruya a sad or angry experssion ever…she’s always happy!!!!!

Kira Kira…(needs a wink)

Her little fang just completes her so much!!!!!! I wish they will come out with Tsuruya-san school uniform.

Just looking at her makes me feel like doing a pose too…

Some painting errors here. Still, small errors like these will appear in mass produced figures.

Alter Tsuruya-san Review:

Alter did a great job on this figure. It’s pretty accurate with the character from the anime. Alter did a good jobwith the sculpting and pose of the figure. Her long green hair is done pretty well. With good figures comes minor problems or errors. The paint seems pretty plain. Also the paint on the dress, there is a bit of small mispaint. Not much and you barely notice unless you look close up. I consider this happens cause it’s basically a mass produced figure and sometimes small errors in painting will occur.

Well, either way, if you don’t mind these small errors, I recommend on getting this lovely figure. My rating of this figure is “A-”.

Other Thoughts:

I decided to do my figure reviews/ shoots a different way now. It kind of looks more organized then before when it just three paragraphs.I hope you like this version of doing a shoot. If you like my old way better, just ask.

You might have also noticed I changed the watermark on my pictures. I felt that my old one was a bit plain. So I decided to add a bit of detail to it and it’s simple but yet it looks good. Sadly I can’t put Konata’s face on it…

Well, it seems my mortal enemy in doing figure photo shoots has come and hit me in the face. Still, it looks brighter then before and I feel I’m somewhat improving a bit. Also I notice on my computer, the background somehow changes color. When I look on my computer, the background looks good and white. Then after uploading, it goes gray… I have no clue how but I hope this doesn’t happen in the future and I hope to fix it as well in future shoots.

I wish they made the figma with her in this outfit instead of the school uniform. Then again I suppose I just like this figure and wish I’d order it, but I have way too much on my pre-order list and money is more troublesome these days. That’s a great deal you got her at, if I saw her for that price and had the money I’d pick her up too. I don’t think the defects are that noticeable as I’ve seen much worse ones before. No idea why your background color would go weird like that.

I think the light for the figurine is too bright.

about the change of color, I believe it’s related to the color palette (adobe uses Adobe, and jpeg uses SRGB) always save to SRGB color.

the BG looks normal for me, the grey bg is because of the light wasn’t strong enough

I was going to recommend to ask ron~ for advice but he already did ^^

If id had to pick a girl from Haruhi it would definately be Tsuruya.
One of my weaknesses are cat-fanged girls

Geez feels like ages since I posted a comment. Your photos are a bit too bright so you’ll need to tone down a bit in the brightness department. If you’re using Photoshop, try adjusting the colours a bit. Though I probably wouldn’t use a white background with this figure otherwise you’ll blend her in too well with her apron.

Cool! But I must admit I prefer the Max Factory Tsuruya.

    Tsuruya FTW ^^

I like the watermark , sadly i tried to do it but was looking awful so i stopped using :D

As for the lightning , direct the lights just on the background , not on the figure at all . and then you just have to find the good setting on the DSLR and it’s done :) . you don’t have to worry about the light , just on the setting . try until you getting the figure clear enough . You should be able to do it as you have the same DSLR as me (but you got the better version) .

Are play-asia and hobbylink japan the best places to order figures from?

The only figures I have were obtained from Japan. I’ve been burnt by Kid Nemo :( I doubt my preorders at Kid Nemo are ever going to be filled.

I love the pictures. The light really seems a bit too bright though, the white lights seem to be drowning out the detail on the figure.

Oh are you ever going to try outdoor shots?

First thought: nice watermark. It adds something to the shots, even though it’s totally irrelevant.

And I lol’d at the kira kira reference, mostly because it reminded me of a certain one of Shin’s banners involving Nagi…

doesn’t really like her character in the anime so no comments from me.

    white background seems a little dull, maybe black will be nicer? ^^;

Persocom: Yea, me too, I’ve seen worst defects in figures before…

Ron~: Yea, the light wasn’t as strong as I want it…

Blowfish: Yea, Ron~ is good at this and I need to figure out how to get the light in the right position…

    Adun: It’s been ages since you commented Adun…sadly, I don’t use photoshop for my pictures…maybe I should…

Lovelyduckie: Sadly, I don’t have Max Factory version of her…

James: I used photoshop to make a good watermark and put it in…

Fumika: I might do outdoor shoots when it’s not cold outside… Kidnemo = bad experieces…
I do say Hobby Search, Hobby Link and Play-Asia are the best ones…

Eternal: LOL!!! It does add something to my pictures…

Gordon: Maybe…I’m not sure right now…

    Saku: Yup it is…
