Anime North 2009 Loot

Second picture is my second attempt in taking all of my loot in one clear picture…

Well, on to the Anime North loot post. This year, I kinda went a bit too far in my case. All my loot can’t even fit into one photo. That’s how big it is. Most people want to find out what I got at Anime North or any convention for that matter. Note, this isn’t all my loot as it all can’t fit into the picture. I’m going to an in-depth as I do with all my convention and trip loot. I was able to ask for cheaper prices for some of my loot and some, my friends such as the artist Draa gave me a good deal on.

Note all prices in Canadian dollar.

Figures:

Not much this year. It’s a small amount sadly but got some good finds though. It seems I’m getting more picky and want better figures that they sold. Sadly, some of the good ones I do want cost way too much. Like $120 CAD which I can clearly get it cheaper when I head to Japan in July. Total amount of figures bought: 6

Manga:

I got quite a few manga this year. I had to catch up on a couple of series which I have yet to finish.Some series caught my eye and some I just bought because I just need to finish. I bought 19 manga.

Black Lagoon vol 1 to 5: $40

Dance in the Vampire Bund vol 1 to 3: $30

Black God (Kuro Kami) vol 1 to 2: $18

Hitohira Vol 1 to 2: $18

Code Geass Suzaku Counterattack vol 1 to 2: $18

Rosario + Vampire vol 3 to 6: $35

Doujinshi:

I went overboard at this. I bought way too much at Anime North. I was able to find K-on doujinshi which I am pretty surprised that I found some. Also was able to find one of my favorite circles doujinshi: Plum. When buying doujinshi in a Convention, just make sure you have enough money for it as it is pretty expensive costing from $15 to $40 for each. A Tony Taka doujinshi sold there cost $40 which I did not get. I’ll be getting some of that in Japan. Total amount of doujins I bought is 20.

Model Kit:

Bought one model kit this time compared to last time. I still have 3 of those model kits I got still unbuilt to this day as I am pretty busy and stuff. I think I’ll start this soon. As some of you know, I’m a fan of the Macross series and one of my favorite characters is Luca. So when his kit came out, I couldn’t help but get this model kit.

Art Books and Books:

Got a couple of artbooks and random books. Three of them I got at the anime flea market and what a deal. I got the Sakura Wars, Nadesico and Ai Yori Aoshi from the flea market, the Everybody cosplay book and Sword of the Stranger book from the dealers room and Tanpoppo from the artist alley. Got 6 books in total.

Sakura Wars artbook: $15

Tanpopo is special in a way. It’s by a Canadian artist first and second of all…

It’s autographed and she drawn a small picture in it too!!!!! YAY!!!!!

Posters:

I was wishing to get some free posters this year but that didn’t happen due to the recession. Still, that didn’t stop me get a poster. This poster has 100 forms of Kirby by VG Cats. This one is special for one reason…

That’s right, Konata Kirby!!!!! I forgot to ask him to draw Mio too but oh well…

It’s also signed by the artist too!!!

CD:

I was able to get two CDs during AN. I got these CDs at the anime flea market. I got them for a great deal though.

Pillow:

Spotted a C.C. pillow when I was at AN. I wanted it and bought pretty quickly before it was sold out. I think I bought the last one too. It’s one amazing pi;;ow. The sad part is that both sides are the same. I’m not complaining, but would be cool to see a more ecchier side of it…

Bedsheet:

I’m not going to AN and not get myself a dakimakura or bedsheet. I got a bedsheet this time as the dakimakuras weren’t as good. I was thinking to get Yoko but when I came back to get it, it was gone. I got the EF Tales one though!!! It’s a really nice one!!!

Art:

Going to a convention, I have to always get some art in the artist alley. I got quite less compared to last year. Still, it’s pretty neat. I can’t believe I found K-On art on the second day…I was lucky to get my hands on it. Total of art is 5.

DVDs:

Finally, the DVDs. I’m supporting the anime industry here. Well, I don’t watch it in dubbed but I watch subs on the DVDs. Also, I just bought some of these DVDs cause I didn’t watch it before. I bought some completed series and some random series. Total I got 10DVD/ series.

Well, bought quite a lot of stuff this year.I spent a total of: $1154

I kinda went overboard this year. At least 1/4 of the budget went towards the doujinshi. Doujinshi here cost at least twice as much as it would cost in Japan. I need to learn to hold back more when I reach Japan or even hold back before Japan trip comes.
