December Toronto Anime Convention 2009

IMG_1039 [photos]

Well, I went to December Toronto Anime Convention, mostly known to locals DTAC for short. It’s a small one day convention that is held in December every year in Toronto Canada. DTAC is generally located in the north building of the Metro Toronto Convention centre. Due to what happened last year, instead of coming on time, my friends and I decided to go an hour or so early. Still, there were quite a good amount of people that was already there when my friend and I arrived. I want to thank Yuki who took some of the pictures when I was busy fooling around.

Conventions starts and swarms of fans, cosplayers and otakus come in. There is still a lot of people just in the morning… I went to get changed into my cosplay for the convention.

The dealer room size had increased since last year and now is around 2 times as big.

The dealer room did get a lot bigger, that means more space to walk and more goods to see. Still, in the morning, it was pretty crowded in there.

A lot of people left and the hall is pretty much empty. Right now, I’m pretty exhausted from the convention and with my final exam tomorrow, I have to get up early to study it too.

The Cosplay:

Some you know I cosplayed at DTAC 2009. Well, what did I cosplay as. As some of you know I went as Len Kagamine from Vocaloid from descriptions from my previous post. Well, things happened and I wasn’t able to go as regular Len. So I pulled an idea together and within 2 days, was able to cosplay as Len Kagamine, Magnet version. I realized the Magnet version was simple so I just quickly pulled it together. I want to thank Momo for helping me with the headphones. You are the best!!! I realized later that my clothes were too loose. I didn’t noticed at first, but maybe I should had worked on that a bit.

Also thanks to Yuki for taking the pics. I would also like to add that I’m one of those people who are shy looking at themselves in a picture. I always feeling something is wrong.

Anyways, here we go… I have no clue why my friends got me into doing these pics… Also I should note that this is the first time I ever did this, so I’m a noob when doing this and also this is the first time that I went somewhat all the way with cosplaying (meaning I did things I never did before…all thanks to my friends who does it to me at every con), usually, I don’t try but still have fun with it.

IMG_1211 [photos]

We basically took this pictures in a hallway in the convention center. We couldn’t find any good places to take photos and I’m not going outside wearing this cosplay as it was freezing cold outside.

Something extra…I don’t know what I am thinking when doing this. I blame my lack of sleep right now.

If you look closely, there are some slight changes and I added some titles and words to it too!!! I somewhat made it into a wallpaper…

This is my first time making these…so I’m pretty noob at it.

Bigger size photos here.

The Loot:

With every convention, I always have to get something. Small cons are either a miss and go when it comes to what they are selling. Usually, that have some nice and rare stuff you don’t usually get at big cons, but sometimes, there selections are pretty much the same as some other dealer. I just walked around and looked around the dealers room to find what I want and what I feel that I couldn’t get online. Also, depends on my mood at the time, that affects what I buy sometimes.

IMG_1227 [whitebgvertical]

Well, as you can see from the pic above. I got only bought 3 things. Not much compared to other conventions I go to, but at least it’s something. I got a Galaxy Angel shirt of Mint, EVA 1.0 for cheap ($20) and Figma Drossel. I never thought I would find Figma Drossel. When I saw it, I bought it without thinking and it was worth it!!!

I’ve been buying less lately, I think it’s due to the fact I’m running out of space for my goods. The good thing is that I’m moving in a month or 2 to a bigger house. That means bigger room and more room for my goods!!!

Next convention…March Toronto Anime Convention, MTAC for short.

And some stores sell the fake thing. So, I left early…It seems like I missed some good cosplay.
I saw a guy in blue parka like you taking money from a ABM when I was in line.
BTW, is it your cosplay headphone from “magnet”?

There was no doujinshi there sadly. So far only Anime North has doujinshi that are sold in Toronto.
It was a good cosplay considering my friends and I made it in 2 days…

I don’t think so. I recommend taking the bus to the Toronto area like Pacific Mall. Then take the TTC. Use the Kennedy bus and take it to Finch. Then transfer by taking the Finch bus West to Finch station. Then take the subway to Union station. Get out to the front of the station.
I recommend using Google Map to help.
