Boxing Day Shopping

IMG_1871 [photos]

Boxing Day is that time of year where I go shopping as a ton of things go on sale. It’s also that time of year where sales happen everywhere at malls and such. I noticed that this time of year is where every mall in the Toronto area is packed with people shopping and buying things that are on sale. Like most people, I to shop like mad since everything is a great deal. Since it was a day of shopping and boxing day, it means I have to do this extra. So a few friends of mine and I woke up (in my case, I didn’t sleep) at around 5am and drove to downtown Eaton Centre as that place has the most things to buy. What’s different in going early is that the streets at 5am to 6am, the streets and highway was pretty empty, which is a good thing.

IMG_1740 [photos]

Arrived at Eaton Centre’s parking loot at around 6AM. The good thing about going early is that there is a lot of parking unlike if I came at around when most people come which means parking is hard to come by.

IMG_1743 [photos]

At 6AM, there was already a ton of people at Best Buy which opens at 6AM on boxing day.

IMG_1744 [photos]

Most people here tend to buy game systems that were on sale or TVs. Here is where I bought my memory cards, a few games and a few DVDs as I had no need for game systems or a TV.

IMG_1747 [photos]

At around 7AM, I finished shopping at Best Buy, on to the next electronic store, Future Shop which opens at the same time. It was raining at the time and the sky was still dark.

IMG_1750 [photos]

There were people shopping and police looking out for shoplifters and thieves, as in boxing day, they are common. Bought a few games here and my lens and external flash.

Heading to HMV afterwards…

IMG_1753 [photos]

Sky getting brighter…

IMG_1756 [photos]

Barely no one in the mall…

IMG_1758 [photos]

HMV…after I went in. They had a door crasher sale where Xbox 360 or PS3 versions of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on sale for $30 but limited supply. I didn’t need it as I already have it. After spending 30 mins at HMV, we went walking around the mall.

IMG_1760 [photos]

There were more people appearing in the mall…

IMG_1763 [photos]

A lot of people arrive at the mall around 9AM…

IMG_1788 [photos]

At around 10AM, crowds begin to appear.

IMG_1789 [photos]

IMG_1791 [photos]

Sales…such as up to 60% off entire store…

IMG_1794 [photos]

Everywhere you see, people are buying and all stores have many items on sale!!!

IMG_1796 [photos]

IMG_1802 [photos]

Friends of mine resting a bit…

IMG_1804 [photos]

Something I see often at boxing day. People line up outside of the store to get into the store.

IMG_1809 [photos]

IMG_1810 [photos]

As time goes by, more and more people come.

IMG_1812 [photos]

IMG_1813 [photos]

Boxing Day at Eaton Centre equals to a ton of people going to be there shopping…

IMG_1817 [photos]

IMG_1819 [photos]

My friends wanted to head to the music store which is around 15 to 20 minutes by walking from the mall.

IMG_1821 [photos]

It was still raining…

IMG_1823 [photos]

IMG_1827 [photos]

Sherlock Holmes building ad.

IMG_1829 [photos]

IMG_1837 [photos]

Arrived at Steve’s Music Store.

IMG_1833 [photos]

Look at all these guitars…

IMG_1834 [photos]

Some guitars are cheap and some expensive. They sell drums, bass and DJ turntables and so on. After a good 30minutes to an hour we headed back to the mall.

IMG_1854 [photos]

At around noon, there is just a crowd of people making it hard to get around…

IMG_1858 [photos]

The giant Xmas tree still there…

IMG_1859 [photos]

IMG_1861 [photos]

Now, there is just a ton of people…

IMG_1872 [photos]

IMG_1878 [photos]

Since we were hungry, we deicded to eat at AMC…

IMG_1883 [photos]

IMG_1885 [photos]

IMG_1887 [photos]

IMG_1892 [photos]

Surprisingly, there wasn’t a lot of people eating there. Usually, on boxing day, there were a ton of people eating at around the same time and it’s hard to find seats to sit and eat lunch. Good thing AMC had a ton of seats.

IMG_1901 [photos]

We went back to Eaton’s after lunch…

IMG_1902 [photos]

Some more game shopping…

IMG_1906 [photos]

A ton of people…

IMG_1916 [photos]

Since we were done with the shopping at EatonCentre, we decided to head to Scarborough Town Centre as there are some stores we want to go to but aren’t in Eaton Centre. At around 3PM we left.

IMG_1921 [photos]

Still raining and at STC, tehre is no such thing as parking in a parking area…

IMG_1928 [photos]

Just look at the cars parked on the road…

IMG_1935 [photos]

STC is just as crowded as Eaton…

IMG_1945 [photos]

Urban Planet my friend wanted to go to. The paying line was just insane. It took a good 30 minutes to just line up and pay for clothes.

IMG_1951 [photos]

I went get shoes but sadly, I couldn’t get the shoe size I want as they sold out. Ah well, I was able to get a lot of other things.

By this time, we deicded to head to dinner and then off to a movie at Fairview Mall for our 10:30PM showing of Sherlock Holmes. My boxing day ended at 1:30AM. So the entire day, I was up for a good 36 hours or more. I was dead tired when I got home and pretty much crashed when I got into my room.

The Loot:

With sales and shopping comes with spending. I spend quite a bit but worth the price I got them for. I got quite a bit of items over boxing day.

IMG_1967 [photos]

Something that went on sale. I’ve been wanting a new lens for quite some time, I believe over a year and an external flash as well. They went on sale today and I was able to get them. I say it’s pretty worth it for the price I got it for.

When I went to Steve’s music store during boxing day, I was able to get a guitar amp. To me it was a great deal. It was around a good $80 off from the original price which I say was an amazing deal.

Line 6 Guitar Amp = $126CAD

IMG_1981 [whitebgvertical]

Well, I don’t talk much about my guitar as I’m still practicing and pretty much still a beginner. I needed a guitar stand for my Fender Mustang, so since I was at a music store, I just bought it as now I don’t need to keep it in my soft carrying case. I might one day put up some video or mp3 of me playing my guitar. Yes, I also do know that my Fender Mustang is Azusa from K-On guitar (same color too).

Guitar stand = $30CAD

Total of boxing day shopping: $1068CAD

Yes, I know, I spent as much as I do at conventions but all in 1 day of shopping. I went over this before as when I went to Japan and used over $1500CAD in one day of Comiket. I had a great time at boxing day and came back with some really great items. I’m pretty happy about my loot and since it’s still boxing week, more spending is coming!!!

I was suppose to pick up House of the Dead but they sold out. I was surprised that they sold out of that game within 15 mins of opening. What are the chances we think of the same title too…
It’s alright to use the same title if you want…

I checked one of the Best Buys today and they still had House of the Dead there. Plenty of them too. I guess they had a lot more over here than there. Did you check out the other stores too? Haha I guess we’re both Boxing Day shoppers. No worries about the title. I’m planning something again with it XD

      Boxing Day Sale madness!!!!!!!!!!
This year, the major outlets in the city opened at 5am, an hour early compared to last year.
Great buys u got there. ZOMG, Die Hard Movie Box Set for $15CAD is just a steal. ><

Well, even though I don’t like crowds I was able to pick up something great yesterday even though it was still pricey overall. I will post it up next year because I don’t receive it until early next year. -_-

You could have gotten yourself something like a Vivitar 285HV for $60-70 CAD cheaper than the 270EX. In fact, the 285HV works just as good as a 430EX.
